The City of Benbrook is named after James M. Benbrook, a local landowner and civic leader who played an important role in the community’s early development. In 1880, Benbrook successfully petitioned the Texas and Pacific Railroad to establish a station west of Fort Worth. The stop became known as Benbrook Station, and the growing settlement eventually adopted the Benbrook name. The community continued to develop over the following decades as families settled in the area and agriculture and transportation routes supported local growth. Benbrook was officially incorporated as a city in 1947, marking an important milestone in its transition from a small rural settlement to the thriving community it is today.
