Emergency Operations
Hazardous Materials Team
The Hazardous Materials (Haz-Mat) Team provides an advanced level of response to specialized hazardolus material spills and other incidents within Benbrook.

The City of Benbrook Fire Department Haz-Mat Team, along with the Southern Emergency Response Preparedness Association (SERPA) and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), works as one of ten regional TYPE 1 Hazmat Response Groups, providing the citizens of Benbrook and participating surrounding counties with a highly-trained team capable of identifying, isolating, containing, and ensuring proper mitigation of a Hazardous Materials release. Through the use of equipment, mutual aid, and private contractors, the team quickly responds to an incident, mitigating hazardous exposure to the public and the environment.

Fire Protection
The City of Benbrook operates an Insurance Services Office (ISO) 4 Fire Department that covers 28 square miles of city and unincorporated Tarrant County. The Benbrook Fire Department is staffed by 16 full-time Firefighter/Paramedics, 21 part-time Firefighters, and 1 Volunteer Firefighter.

The Fire Department operates 2-Class A Fire Engines, 1-Ladder Truck, 4-MICU Ambulances, 3- Brush Trucks, 1-3500 gal Water Tender, 1-Rescue/Haz-Mat Truck, 1-Dive Boat, and 1-Dive Support vehicle out of one central station that is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

All full-time firefighters are certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as structural firefighters, hazardous materials technicians, and fire inspectors. They are also certified by The Department of State Health Services as EMT-Paramedics.

Dive Team
The Benbrook Fire Department has a dive team consisting of fire department members. The dive team provides rescue and recovery of drowning victims within the city and in Tarrant County. The Fire Department has recently added side-scanning sonar to the dive vessel to assist in recovery of drowning victims. All members of the dive team are certified through the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) as open water, public safety divers or dive masters.

Rope Rescue
The Benbrook Fire Department operates a rope rescue team. This includes high angle rescue and confined space rescue. All members of the rope rescue team are certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as Rope Technicians.
