Mark Washburn is serving his fifth term as councilmember for the City of Benbrook and was first elected in 2008. A Benbrook resident since 1998, Mark is the father of two children.

Mr. Washburn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications degree from the University of New Orleans. In 1991, he earned a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Additional studies include Clinical Pastoral Education from the School of Pastoral Care at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, where he served as hospital chaplain.

For the past 8 years, Mr. Washburn has worked as an Activity Professional in the health care industry.  His professional background also includes over 30 years in media technology and 25 years in church ministry-related work.  Prior to his service on City Council, Mr. Washburn served on various board and commissions in the Benbrook Community.
